What is Dungeons and Dragons?

Dungeons and Dragons is an improvised adventure where the players role play as their characters. The players’ actions are limited only by their imagination, but the results of their actions are dictated by a Dungeon Master (aka a DM) and rolls of dice. The standard die used is a twenty sided dice called a “D20” - the higher the roll the better the outcome. A roll of 20 (a Crit Success) is a perfect outcome, a roll of 1 (a Crit Failure) is the worst outcome, and all other results scale to the number rolled. While we are well versed in the Dungeons and Dragons rulesets, our group’s playstyle is less focused on the mechanics of the game to allow role playing, improvised performance and collaborative storytelling to have the central stage.
